Oh hi, I’m Mickey.
A systems person who figured out business wasn't working for her — and started doing something about it.
Fractional COO. Digital Systems Strategist.
Recovering over functioner. Based in Austin. Offline on Fridays.
Here's what I actually believe about work.
I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. My mother was a wall muralist. My aunt and grandmother were interior designers. My father was an entrepreneur whose journey ended far too soon.
I studied Entrepreneurship and Organizational Management because I knew early on that I had two things going for me: a compassionate heart and a systems-thinking mind. And I knew exactly who needed both of those things — the brilliant, driven people building something of their own, without the right support around them.
That's why I do this work. Not just because I'm good at it. Because I know what it costs when the right support isn't there.
Six years and 30+ businesses later, I still believe that. But I've also learned something that didn't make it into the curriculum:
Being good at building systems for other people doesn't automatically mean you've built the right one for yourself.
I've been sitting with that for a while. Examining it. Quietly restructuring. And bringing everything I learn back into the work I do with clients — because the best operational support doesn't just come from training. It comes from someone who's living the same questions you are, a few steps further into figuring them out.
A few things worth knowing about me.
The Wild Robot
I describe myself as the Wild Robot — 3/4 systems and logic, 1/4 unexpectedly tender. I adapt to the ecosystem around me without losing what I am. I find the architecture underneath beautiful things. I show the science in the sourdough.
If that sentence made sense to you, we're going to get along great.
The way I work
I ask a lot of questions. Like, a genuinely uncomfortable amount. If it feels like too many, it means I'm paying attention — and I'm about to do better work because of it. Fair warning. And fair promise.
I thrive with directed independence. Tell me where we're going and trust me to figure out how to get there. I'm not going to disappear on you — I'm going to come back with a plan worth showing you.
I work asynchronously — not because I'm unavailable, but because showing up fully prepared is worth more than answering Slack within the hour. I respond within 24–48 business hours. I'm offline on Fridays, non-negotiably. A burnt-out partner isn't a good one. I've learned that firsthand.
The way I think
I'm a visual thinker. I make maps and diagrams and timelines — not just for you, but because it's how I process complex information.
If I send you a visual you didn't ask for, it helped me think first.
Direct communication is my love language. Say the plain thing. I can handle it and I genuinely want to know.
Indirect communication sends my brain into unnecessary overtime, and neither of us wants that.
The human stuff
I'm a Xennial who leans firmly elder Millennial. My aesthetic is warm, quirky, a little hipster, deeply intentional. I make my own sourdough. I have strong opinions about espresso. My home and family come first, always — and I've built my business to reflect that, not contradict it.
What I actually do.
When you work with me, you get one thinking partner with a wide range of capabilities — someone who moves fluidly between strategy and execution, the big picture and the details that make it real.
